On black holes and absence

A year ago, a vacuum opened and has been absorbing not so much light but very definitely time, and all available energy, from the surrounding environment. Unusually among vacuums, this one had mass (3.72kg) and was both mobile and audible.

By going on maternity leave in October 2013, I left many resighters floating in the void (I’m aware that the metaphor’s becoming tortured). I’m making the first tentative steps towards getting back to work, so – if you have sent resightings – I will be updating the database and working on sending you updates on how the birds are faring. Thank you for your support and patience.

I am still very interested in where these birds are and what they’re up to, so if you see a Canada goose with an orange/red neck collar please let me know.
